DESCRIPTION AND PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION OF SOLID FUEL MINI-CHP:
Our combined solid fuel mini-CHP is a stationary automated thermal power plant capable of generating process steam, electricity, and providing heating and hot water for industrial and residential facilities by burning solid fuel (wood waste, peat, coal, sunflower husk, etc.) in steam boilers.
One or more steam boilers (as per the Customer’s specifications) are installed in the mini-CHP building and operated in working mode. Part of the steam produced by the working boiler is used to generate electricity using a condensation-type steam turbine generator set with or without steam extraction, while the other part of the steam is fed to heat exchangers for district heating (heating and hot water supply).
The main building is divided into characteristic sections: boiler hall, machine hall, steam turbine room. The administrative and utility block includes equipment repair rooms, switchgear rooms, transformer chambers, a water treatment laboratory, rooms for operational personnel, stairwells, sanitary units, showers, cleaning equipment rooms, and storage rooms.
Administrative and utility rooms are separated from the main building by a wall and include: operator’s room, mechanical workshops, oil and antifreeze storage, spare parts storage, reagent storage, switch rooms, duty personnel rooms, dining room, wardrobes, showers, sanitary units, stairwells, corridors, and storerooms.
For the operation of the mini-CHP, steam boilers (capacity specified by calculations and Customer’s specifications) are proposed. Each steam boiler is equipped with auxiliary equipment:
- Vortex firebox type Neutron-PGS with a forced pseudo-boiling layer for burning wood waste.
- Intermediate bunker with a feeder with a “swinging bottom” design, preventing fuel hanging.
- Wood waste conveyors within the boiler unit.
- Fuel supply equipment to the Neutron-PGS vortex firebox.
- Forced draft fan.
- Induced draft fan.
- Flue gas recirculation fan.
- Slag and ash removal equipment.
- Flue gas cleaning equipment.
- Water and steam sampling equipment.
- Equipment for blowing and cleaning heating surfaces from external deposits with control apparatus.
- Air ducts and gas flues with compensators, shut-off valves, dampers.
- Blowdown expanders, drainage tanks with drainage pumps.
- Installations for correctional treatment of feed and boiler water.
- Control and instrumentation.
- Temporary pipelines and equipment for hydraulic testing, chemical cleaning of the boiler, and pre-commissioning and commissioning works.
- Shut-off, safety, and control valves.
Fuel is supplied to the mini-CHP fuel bunkers via conveyors.
The project (working drawings) provides for the regulation of direct network water, heating system makeup, specified steam pressure, and water level in tanks.
Flue gas cleaning from ash and soot is provided in ash collectors – block battery multicylones.
Fine ash produced during combustion is fed through the ash pit by a screw conveyor and falls down where it is transported by pushers to the zone where the main coarse ash falls. Ash, due to the movement of the Neutron-PGS vortex firebox, moves to the ash shafts at the end of which periodically opening dampers are located. Ash is then transported by conveyors to sealed ash containers with a screw conveyor and level sensor. The ash removal system includes several transportable containers. They are located on the site near the induced draft fans, allowing for vehicle access.
In the turbine hall, electricity is generated by a steam turbine with electrical capacity determined by calculations and technical specifications from the Customer.
Construction of mini-CHP by the “UGK-Energetika” group differs from similar mini-CHPs by a high efficiency of up to 88%, achieved using a high-speed Parsons steam turbine and steam boilers with Neutron-PGS vortex firebox technology with a forced pseudo-boiling layer.
